Forge app for Jira Cloud
Remaining Estimate Counter for Boards
Remaining estimate, story points and issue totals on your Scrum or Kanban board, sprint and backlog. Runs on Atlassian: nothing leaves your site.
See the remaining estimate for the active sprint, any future sprint or the whole backlog in one click from the board. Group by column, assignee, epic or issue type. Roll up sub-tasks correctly.
Will we meet the sprint commitment?
Jira shows estimates on each card, but not the total that is still left. Remaining Estimate Counter for Boards adds a "Remaining estimate" item to the board, backlog and sprint menus and shows, in one modal:
- the remaining estimate (hours), original estimate, story points or issue count that is still open in the active sprint, in a future sprint while you plan it, or across the whole backlog;
- totals by board column (how much is still in To Do vs In Progress), by assignee (who is overloaded), by epic or parent and by issue type;
- sub-tasks handled your way: count them separately, ignore them, or roll them up to the parent so a story with 3h + 5h of sub-tasks shows 8h once, not twice.
One click from the board
"Remaining estimate" in the board's menu, totals by column.
Plan with real numbers
The sprint card menu shows the remaining estimate of a future sprint before you commit.
No double counting
Roll sub-tasks up to their parent, or ignore them; the choice is saved per board.
Built for the backlog, not just the active sprint
Planning happens when there is no active sprint. Open the sprint card's menu and get the totals for that sprint before you start it, or open the backlog menu for the total of everything that is not yet scheduled.
Dashboard gadget
Add "Remaining estimate by board" to any dashboard to keep the active-sprint remaining estimate for a board in front of the team, with optional auto-refresh.
Works with how your team estimates
- Reads the board's estimation statistic (Story Points, Story point estimate, time tracking) automatically; override it with any numeric field, including business value.
- Company-managed and team-managed projects, Scrum and Kanban boards.
- Settings (unit, sub-task rule, grouping, done rule) are saved per board and shared by the team.
Private by design: Runs on Atlassian
Nothing leaves your Atlassian site. The app reads issue data in your browser as you, with read-only permissions, and stores only per-board display settings on Forge hosted storage. No servers of ours, no analytics, no third parties.
Switching from Agile Remaining Estimate Counter
Connect apps stop receiving updates at Connect end of support (31 January 2027). This app covers the same job (totals for the board and active sprint including sub-tasks, in hours, story points, issue count or any numeric field) and adds the backlog and future-sprint views. There is nothing to migrate: re-select the unit and sub-task rule once per board.

How to switch
- Install Remaining Estimate Counter for Boards from the Marketplace listing; it is free for sites with up to 10 users, so you can trial it alongside the existing app.
- Open a board, choose "Remaining estimate" from the board menu, and set the unit and sub-task rule once; they are saved per board for the whole team.
- Add the dashboard gadget where the old app's gadget sat.
- Uninstall Agile Remaining Estimate Counter when the team is happy. Nothing needs exporting: both apps read the same Jira estimates.
